The Pups Turn 7 Weeks
They Look Done to Me!!!
The pups are seven weeks old now and are turning into actual dogs. Our visit started as it did last week, with the pups caged up but ready to play. When Marian let them out, they rolled out of the kennel and washed up on Wayne.
A couple of them headed immediately for the far parts of the yard, where they took the time to smell the flowers.
The project for the day was to take pictures of all the puppies "stacked", a position that shows off good conformation features and highlights bad ones, I guess. Marian placed them in position and sort of held them there for the stacking photos - if you want to see each pup as it stacked, look here. The following are "out takes" from the stacking process. First Wayne had to catch them and admire them, then Marian had to admire them, then she had to wrestle them into position. Based on the wrestling part of the activity, Miss Berry is going to be a handful.
After the intense pressure of being stacked, the pups had to let off some steam. They all played, but Mr. Blue and Mr. Green were just full of hell. Even Miss Pink had to cut loose a little, although she ended up being a lap-guided missile, as usual.
Throughout the afternoon I tried to get photos of individual pups. Here's what came out. Check out Mr. Black hopping onto the drain cover (second row) - now that's an athletic guy.
Marian has a big pipe and a eucalyptus tree in her yard and these were constant draws through the day.
After the pups were sort of tired out, Marian decided to let the Big Girls out to play. A great time was had by all and a lot of canine manners coaching was going on. A good end to a great day!
